Woody Point Yacht Club holds its AGM

The crags surrounding Lovett Bay are probably still resounding from the great tunes belted out by ‘Back Beat’ and the merriment of all who attended another epic Woody Point AGM.

A truly memorable night was guaranteed after the weather gods decided that the tumult of barely 10 hours earlier could be replaced with tranquil calm and blue skies fading to a glorious star-studded firmament. Only the gravy coloured waters and the distant cascade from below the Lovetts Pools remained as a reminder of the storms that had raged the night before.

Preparations for the event, that had been in train for weeks, fell into place like a well-oiled machine. Tireless work from the WPYC Committee was exemplified by Toby Jay multitasking in logistics, band negotiations, MCing and serving Frankfurters. He was Mr Everywhere and still had the energy to front for the clean-up afterwards.

Excellent catering and libations flowed effortlessly from the capable hands of Annette Ritchie, Angela Shanahan, Ian Major and Thomas Skinner. Commodore Jon Hoile had a guiding hand at the helm.

A veritable galaxy of twenty glittering prizes were distributed to deserving winners from the year’s sailing events.

Thanks were given to Michael Rich and Marybeth for once again providing the unique venue of the Lovett Bay Boatshed for our annual event.

Commodore Jon Hoile reflected on his term in office and gallantly passed the mantle AKA The Commodore’s Jacket, to Frank Milner.
