Acknowledgement of Country

Acknowledgement of Country

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the country on which we gather – the Garigal people – and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We show our respect to their elders past and present and other Aboriginal people here today.

Uluru Statement

Our First Nations are extraordinarily diverse cultures, living in an astounding array of environments, multi-lingual across many hundreds of languages and dialects.

The continent has been occupied by First Nations people for 65,000 years and the footprints of their ancestors traversed the entire landscape. Their songlines cover vast distances, uniting peoples in shared stories and religion.

The entire land and seascape is named, and the cultural memory of their elders is written there.
