Mona Vale Make-over.

Northern Beaches Council is preparing plans for a re-vamped Mona Vale – a 10 year plan that aims to create a town centre that’s vibrant, safe, inclusive and provides sustainable living for residents.

There’s an online survey but be quick – you need to get it in before 22nd April.

Complete the online survey to help so Council can better understand your values and aspirations for Mona Vale.

Introduction to Baysnews Editors

Sadly Deb Jones has left us to move north and be with family and friends in Newcastle.  Pru Colville and Suzanne Plater are stepping up to take her place. Here’s a brief introduction to the new team.

Hi there, I’m Pru. My worklife has included slaving as a shorthand/typist (for way too long); being a very late starter and getting a BA degree as, what is politely called, a ‘Mature Age Student’ and then somehow getting a job as a production Manager in a film and tv production house and then branching out to form my own production company (The Production Team).

After 8 years of that a change in direction to writer/script editor for television drama for 7 years and from there to working with partner Jon Matthews as documentary-maker. Also 3 years in Asia as a journalist/video editor for Al Jazeera and SBS Dateline.

I’ve lived in Elvina Bay for the past 8 years and never want to leave.

Pru Colville

Hi, Suzanne Plater here. I’m fairly new to the Bays – we bought our home in Lovett Bay about four years ago. And what a fabulous idea (of mine) that was.

My work schtick is academia – specifically, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and education, and more specifically, structural racism. After 15 years of paid teaching and research at the School of Public Health, University of Sydney, I’m now an honorary senior academic. Which simply means I no longer get paid for whatever teaching and research I do.

Right now, I’m living in a tent in the Daintree region of FNQ, working with Rainforest 4 Conservation Foundation and the traditional custodians, the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. We’re preventing the development of eight hectares of beautiful rainforest and the adjacent creek. It’s a long story – I’ll tell you over a drink sometime (after I’ve had a very long shower).

Suzanne Plater
