Fine Fuel Collection

Editors Note:

Council has initiated another Fine Fuel Collection and bags have been made available for this purpose. Collection will take place on Monday 27th November and bags should be ready for pick up at 7am on that day.

Please note:

  • Only one bag per household
  • Fine fuels are categorised as smaller in diameter than your little finger – in other words, leaves, twigs and bark NOT branches and sticks.

Monday 27  November 2023 – Have your bags ready by 7am

To help reduce the risk of bushfire and ember attacks, Council is organising a fine fuel collection.

Fine fuel includes leaves, twigs and bark that can easily catch fire and only these materials will be collected. Fine fuels are less than the diameter of your little finger.

Please note other vegetation will not be collected as part of the fine fuel collection.

What to do you need to do?

  1. Pick up a fine fuel bag supplied by Council (one bag ONLY per household) from

Tuesday 7th November 2022 from one of the wharves

  • North or South Elvina Bay,
  • Lovett Bay,
  • Hall or Morning Bay
  1. Clear your roof and rake up all the fine fuel around your house and tip it into the fine fuel bag. Only Council supplied bags will be collected.
  2. Depending on the location of your property, place your filled bag as follows;
Residents of Lovett Bay North, Little Lovett Bay and Morning Bay Residents of McCarrsCreek Residents of Lovett Bay South and Elvina Bay
– Place your bag on your private jetty if it is accessible at low tide or at the public wharf ONLY. No roadside collection. –  Place your bag at your private jetty or public wharf.

–  77 Douglas Estate:
place your bag outside your property for roadside collection.

–  Place your bag on your private jetty if it is accessible at low tide or at the public wharf.

–  Place your bag outside your property for roadside collection only if you do not have water frontage, water access or your private jetty is not accessible at low tide.

 

If your collection is at a public wharve, secure the vegetation at the wharf’s entrance point. Roadside collection – 3m gap between bag and road/fire trails to allow emergency access.
