A big thank you Deborah Jones

Dear Readers

This BaysNews is the penultimate offering from our Editor Deborah Jones.

After mulling for several years Deborah has finally decided to return to Newcastle where the majority of her family still live. To say she will be missed is underselling it a trifle. Deborah has rebuilt BayNews to reflect the vibe of the times – a curated, timely, smorgasbord of must know, never knew, warm and quirky articles that together reflect the life and times of today for the Western Shores of Pittwater

Our community has much to thank Deborah for. After retiring from 35+ years in the newspaper business which included senior management roles as well as Arts Editor of The Australian, Deborah wasn’t looking for a job. However, she gracefully accepted her fate when the Editorship was ‘offered’ to her. Her experience and skills were immediately obvious.

On behalf of you all we thank Deborah for revitalising and modernising this much-loved communication.

On a happier note… moving into her sizeable shoes (perhaps a foot in each) are our replacement Co-Editors; Pru Colville and Suzanne Plater. Both women are skilled communicators with a dizzying range of skills and we look forward to seeing their first edition in April.

And…

You may not be aware that the cost of funding BaysNews and its integrated website, is met solely by The West Pittwater Community Association through its membership subscriptions. Increasingly these cost are becoming harder to subsidise without additional resources.

Paradoxically the majority of BayNews readers are not West Pittwater Community Association members. If you are not a member, we would love you to consider membership. Your $20 a year would be very timely support for BaysNews and would help ensure its continued future.
