Get Ready West Pittwater Community – the 2022/23 fire season is approaching!

West Pittwater RFS will host Get Ready Weekend community information meetings on:

• Saturday 17 September, 10am at Elvina Fire Shed
• Sunday 18 September, 10am at Lovett Bay Fire Shed

You only need to attend one meeting, whichever is most convenient for you. Whilst we will review the basics of the bush fire survival plan at these meetings, the focus will be on the roles you, your neighbours & community play when a bush fire is imminent. This will include the importance of:

• Knowing your own capabilities and equipment
• Knowing your neighbours’ capabilities and equipment
• Knowing the capabilities & limitations of the RFS & Community Fire Units
• Knowing how to get relevant fire information
• Knowing who to contact for local information, direction and assistance
• Knowing that helping to protect our neighbours is essential to our own survival

All residents are encouraged to attend, especially those new to the area. This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered and meet other members of the community.  Following the meeting we will be happy to discuss individual requirements and any further assistance we can provide (including using available technology).

• Get your fire pumps ready and if you need help, take your portable pump for a check at either Elvina or Lovett Bay fire sheds on Sat 3 Sep (between 8 & 12)
