Over $360k worth of Dine and Discover vouchers have been claimed on the Northern Beaches with the program now rolling out state-wide.

The rest of NSW can now apply for $100 in vouchers that have been progressively rolled out to Northern Beaches residents over the last month.

To access the vouchers, people need to have a Service NSW account and go through an identity verification process to apply for the vouchers to prevent fraud.

As of yesterday (Monday, 22 March) 413 businesses on the Northern Beaches were registered to redeem Dine and Discover vouchers, with 385 accepting Dine vouchers and 28 accepting Discover vouchers.

A spokesperson for Service NSW told the Northern Beaches Advocate that 14,493 vouchers had been redeemed as of yesterday, 13,819 for Dine vouchers and 674 for Discover vouchers. The voucher redemptions to date represent a benefit to the Northern Beaches of over $360k.

That head start on the rest of the state is likely to extend as business owners in other areas are yet to register for the program, meaning residents of other parts of Sydney may come to the Northern Beaches to redeem their vouchers.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the wider release of the program was possible following the successful testing on the Northern Beaches.

“This stimulus will give businesses the boost they need after an incredibly tough 12 months, and will encourage customers to get out and about safely. These vouchers will help businesses keep their doors open and grow, while providing customers with much needed hip pocket relief,” said Premier Berejiklian.

Dine & Discover NSW is now being progressively rolled out across NSW. Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the program will bring much needed relief to some of the State’s hardest hit industries.

“We want businesses to grow and thrive and for workers to stay in jobs. This stimulus is exactly what NSW needs as our economy goes from strength to strength. Whether it’s a café, restaurant, cinema or gallery, these industries have done it tough during the pandemic, and these vouchers will encourage more customers to come through the door and spend,” said Treasurer Perrottet.

Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the vouchers were easy to access and redeem via the Service NSW smartphone app.

“The app is seamless, contactless and safe. We are using digital technology to make life easier for customers and businesses. Throughout the testing and pilot phases, customers spent an average of $39, which is almost double the money going straight back into the community,” said Minister Dominello.

Every NSW resident aged 18 and over will be eligible for four $25 vouchers worth $100 in total, to spend in participating businesses. Vouchers can now be used 7 days a week, excluding public holidays and will be valid until 30 June 2021. According to Service NSW, a non-digital solution is available at Service NSW to people who do not have a smartphone or compatible device.

Dine & Discover NSW vouchers are divided into two categories:

  • Two $25 vouchers to be used for eating in at restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs 7 days a week, excluding public holidays
  • Two $25 vouchers to be used for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music, and arts venues, available 7 days a week, excluding public holidays.
