Markus Plattner and Friends

Markus Plattner & Friends will be playing jazz, swing, blues, bossa nova and more

Markus Plattner was born in Switzerland and graduated with a Bachelor degree from the Swiss Jazz School in 1977. He was the first Swiss guitarist to gain a jazz degree. He was deputy director of the Bern Conservatorium of Music and has travelled the world both teaching, composing and playing jazz. He now splits his time between Bern and Sydney and devotes his time composing, playing and other innovative activities. He is the founder of two websites: sheetmusic.ch (for publishing own works and those of others) and guitar-duets.com (80 guitar duets for educational purposes). See his website for more detail

Stan Valacos plays double bass and seven string guitar. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has played with So Frito, Alturas, Performing Brasil, Bob Barnard, Okapi Allstars, Ian DateNigel DateGadjo GuitarsDominic HalpinGeorge WashingmachineJohn MorrisonJacki Cooper, Paul Furniss, Dave Paquette, Geoff Bull, Cathy Harley, Brad Child, Dan Holland ‘arhhhh too long a list, and enjoying every minute of it’.

Stan Valacos

Ron Lemke is a Canadian-born drummer who plays jazz, rock, pop, funk, R&B, blues, etc. He works as a freelance musician/teacher and has played with many famous artists.

Jessica McGowan is a Scotland island resident who is well-known on the island for her organisation of the On Quay choir and for her involvement in many other projects. She works as a building designer, and loves to sing jazz and the blues.
