When we first moved offshore, one of the first things I heard about was the Woody Point Yacht Club. It took me a while to understand that although there was no club house, it was an actual yacht club that conducted a regular race each Wednesday evening during daylight saving months. I made it my business to get invited on board a boat and since then have enjoyed many hours sailing up Pittwater and back with the rest of the fleet. Despite the huge popularity with offshore and onshore yachties, The Woody Point race has managed to keep its laid back, don’t take it too seriously attitude – mostly, I would guess, because of its guiding principles.
This is the original charter of the Woody Point Yacht Club. Over time a more formal constitution has had to be adopted however, the original charter remains the soul of the Club.
