A Murmur….

One of the delights of the Bays is bird watching and being struck by the agility, speed and intelligence of our feathered friends. To underscore that point Lis Kirkby has kindly pointed us to an experience only seen in the northern hemisphere. It’s called a murmuration – a phenomena when huge flocks of migrating birds form shape-shifting flight patterns.

Scientists tried to figure out how they fly without colliding with each other and concluded that is only possible when each bird can do about 100 million mathematical calculations in 1 second in order not to hit each other.

There are many links online – this is just one of them. Watch and wonder good people…
