Northern Beaches Council have announced that important restoration and improvement works at Currawong Beach that will begin on Monday, 17 February.
The works will be ongoing throughout 2020 with expected completion in November.These restoration works will beautify the surroundings and improve the games
rooms and three cottages, ensuring Currawong retains its heritage value and remains a family friendly venue for years to come.
Improvements will be made to:
- three holiday cabins
- the games room
- pathways, retaining walls and landscaped areas.
During the works the cabins and access pathways will be closed. Accommodation at Midholme and the Caretakers Cottage will remain unaffected.
Public access will be limited to the wharf and foreshore recreation area with minor interruptions due to construction traffic and pathway works.

Currawong State Park is home to Currawong Beach Cottages, located on the Western Foreshores of Pittwater. Council acquired the site in 2011.
The cottages are listed on the State Heritage Register and were constructed between 1949 and 1953 and remain in original working condition today.
Council has worked with the Currawong State Park Advisory Committee to plan this restoration. All plans have been endorsed by the Office of Environment and Heritage and have
been completed in full alignment with the Conservation Management Plan for the site.
Approval has been granted for DA2017/0281 (lodged 07/07/2017 with approval granted 16/02/2018) for the first stage – this includes updating three
cabins, the games room and landscaping.
Approval has been granted for DA2019/0712 for works on the remaining six cabins.
Availability during 2020
While works are underway, public access will be limited to the wharf, Midholme and communal recreation areas along the foreshore.
The cottages will not be available during these works. Current Midholme bookings on weekends still stand during the works.
Funding for this project was provided by the NSW Government from the Stronger Communities Fund to the value of $2.68 million.
