Wakehurst Parkway set to close for major roadworks
WAKEHURST Parkway will be closed between Frenchs Forest and North Seaforth between next Friday night and the following Monday morning, further congesting
Pittwater Rd and Mona Vale Rd.
Only residents will be able to use the Parkway between North Narrabeen and Frenchs Forest.
The full road closure next weekend comes on top of the partial closure of the Parkway immediately north and south of Warringah Rd this weekend, during
which traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokeswoman said the full closure of Wakehurst Parkway between 10pm on Friday, May 18 and 5am on Monday, May 21, was to allow
workers to prepare the intersection of Warringah Rd and the Parkway for future work, including an underpass.
“As crews prepare for the next stage of major work along Warringah Rd, a number of changes need to be made to the existing approaches to the Wakehurst
Parkway intersection,” she said.
“Work is being carried out to prepare for the moving of traffic onto three new westbound lanes on Warringah Rd, which will carry traffic heading towards
the city later this month.
“To allow work to be carried out safely and efficiently, Wakehurst Parkway north of Warringah Rd will be closed at the intersection of Pittwater Rd at
Narrabeen but access will be maintained for local traffic travelling to and from North Narrabeen, Oxford Falls and Frenchs Forest.
“Crews will be moving the traffic lights and changing the northern side of the Wakehurst Parkway-Warringah Rd intersection with police on site to monitor
traffic and ensure safe conditions for motorists.

“Police will also be on site to direct traffic and allow a temporary right turn from Wakehurst Parkway into Frenchs Forest Rd West for local motorists
wanting to head towards Chatswood.
“Work will involve installing drainage, kerbs and gutters, removing and rebuilding the road base, adjusting traffic lights, laying asphalt and line marking.
“While Wakehurst Parkway is temporarily closed, all road users are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and to use alternative routes.”
She said all westbound traffic on Warringah Rd would be moved onto the newly-built lanes between Rodborough Rd and Fitzpatrick Ave to allow essential upgrades
to be carried out on the existing road for several months.
“Motorists in the area will experience heavy traffic in coming months, with the heaviest traffic during the morning and afternoon weekday peaks and on
Saturdays,” she said
